IS research rankings web site update: January 2011

Launched in October 2009, the web site, http://www.vvenkatesh.com/ISranking, that allows searching for rankings by university and author based on any combination of the AIS Senior Scholars' basket of journals, i.e., EJIS, ISJ, ISR, JAIS, JIT, JMIS, JSIS and MISQ. Recent updates include new methods of ranking, addition of articles for 2010 (in all, 1990-2010) and improved printing. Please take ONE minute to fill out a survey that will provide information about how you (or your dept, school, univ) are using the site and help in securing ongoing resources for site maintenance. The survey is at: http://www.vvenkatesh.com/ISranking/survey.asp.

In August 2009, Science Watch (a Thompson Reuters’ service) named the technology acceptance model one of the four Research Front Maps in business and economics, with Venkatesh et al. (2003, MISQ) being the most influential paper (a PDF file version is also available). An audio interview of Dr. Venkatesh is posted on Science Watch.

(MP3 file)

A number of Dr. Venkatesh's papers are among the most cited papers published in various journals: Venkatesh and Davis (1996) is ranked 1st of all papers published in Decision Sciences "Top 100 Cited Decision Sciences Articles"; Venkatesh (2000) is the 2nd most cited paper published in Information Systems Research; Venkatesh et al. (2003) is the 2nd most cited paper published in MIS Quarterly; and Venkatesh and Davis (2000) is the 5th most cited paper published in Management Science.

Named to Marquis’ Who’s Who in the World, America, and/or Science and Technology since 2007.

ISI Essential Science Indicators recognized “A Theoretical…” published in Management Science as the paper with the highest percent increase in total citations for the period of Aug-Oct 2003. My interview is available online: http://www.incites.com/scientists/ViswanathVenkatesh.html

Where have I been lately?

April 2011: Traveled to Las Vegas for a conference followed by a conference in Philadelphia. The semester is winding down. Looks like we have a new department chair!

March 2011: As the semester pushed on, I traveled to Hong Kong for collaborative research and a workshop at Poly U. This included travel to Beijing for research.

February 2011: Semester is underway with recruiting and a new course on networks. Stayed put in Fayetteville largely due to two trips being cancelled due to weather.

January 2011: In addition to finishing up my stint at ANU, I traveled to Kauai for HICSS and spent some more time in Florida. The new semester began with enormous amount of recruiting activities and a new course prep in store. Bad weather wreaked havoc in Arkansas.

December 2010: After ICIS, I did spend some time as I always do in Florida.

Fall 2010: It is hard to break down this semester because I was at so many places and often going back. My travels included ANU (where I spent most of my time), some time back in the US (to work on research, attend DSI, attend ICIS), some time in Europe to include France (presenting at the UN) and Italy (Milan and Rome). The travels included some time off now and again to travel through Europe with my parents.
